1.) What is your background and how did you become involved with photography?

I came in touch with photography since I was a kid. I used to have a lot of camera toys. My mom always used to buy me disposable cameras. I had no clue how I had to work with it because I was so young but I enjoyed playing with it so much. When I was around 11/12 years old I bought my first DSLR and went shooting with friends. Since I live in The Netherlands and we have to decide what we want to do after High School I decided to study Photography at Grafisch Lyceum.

2.) When you’re working with a model, how important is communication during a shoot?

Communication is highly important during a shoot but also before and afterwards. You want your model to feel comfortable around you and the team. Communication is key, if there is no communication I believe the shoot is not going the way you want it to be.

3.) What’s the best thing about being a photographer?

Being a photographer gives you a lot of freedom, it gives you the opportunity to see things all over the world and working with other creative people.

4.) When someone looks at your photography, what do you want them to know about you?

If someone looks at my photography I want them to know that I love fashion, lifestyle and portrait. I do not have a meaning with my pictures and I also do not want that. I just want people to see my pictures and just look at them for a while like 'wow this looks amazing'.  I would love to give people the feeling that there is so much more within photography than just holding a button.

5.) What can we look forward to seeing from you during the rest of 2018 and then 2019?

I would love to shoot more editorials with new people and especially new faces.

6.) What advice do you have for beginner photographers?

Beginning photographers have to know that there should be no rush. Every photographer has started somewhere. I once felt I was so slow or even too late with learning about photography, But you are never to old or being to slow with learning something. Try to explore everything in photography. If you find a particular part of photography that you are interested in try to dig deeper and explore more. Exploring makes photography a lot more fun so do not rush.

7.) What photographer/s have influenced you the most? Since the photography techniques and equipment change quickly, it is important to stay up-to-date. What do you do to always keep up with the times?

I do not get influenced just by photographers. I get influenced by model, stylists, make up artists and even locations on the street.  If someone asks me a particular photographer who I get inspired by it would be Marc de Groot from Amsterdam.

I use a lot of platforms to stay updated. Especially Instagram since it is so popular nowadays. I could not imagine a social life at this moment without Instagram. Besides Instagram I also use Facebook for my network, LinkedIn and Pinterest just to see whats new.
